About The Position

We are currently accepting resumes for part-time Recreation Program Instructors. This position will be responsible for ensuring recreation programs are fun, safe and engaging for participants. Guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Guelph Corporate Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Community Vision for an inclusive, connected, prosperous city. Positions may be assigned to any City of Guelph recreation facility, including: South End Community Centre, Victoria Road Recreation Centre, West End Community Centre, Evergreen Seniors Centre, Guelph Sports Dome.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children aged 2-12 years, preferably in a recreation setting. (Requirement for various Recreation Programs).
  • Experience creating and delivering recreational programming.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to respect and maintain participant confidentiality.
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR C certification.
  • A satisfactory Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Theatre and Improv considered an asset.
  • Experience in various sports considered an asset.
  • Experience in racket sports considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and deliver high quality, safe and stimulating activities for recreation programs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean program space; as well as ensure equipment/supplies are safe, age appropriate and stored properly.
  • Completes administrative duties (i.e. Attendance, Accident/Incident Reports, opening and closing duties, etc.).
  • Take action to deal with incidents, problems, and emergencies as outlined in City of Guelph policies and procedures.
  • Report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to participants and caregivers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
