About The Position

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Recreation Program Coordinator - Aquatics. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours as needed during peak season operations. The Community Services Department enhances the quality of life in Chandler through diverse and affordable educational and recreational experiences, creating community through people, parks, and programs. The Recreation Division champions everyday experiences, encouraging the community to discover, imagine, and grow through innovative events, programs, and services that foster healthy lifestyles. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration, and will be responsible, self-motivated, and organized. Strong decision-making skills in programming, facility management, customer and employee relations, and prioritizing daily work assignments are essential.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or a related field
  • 3 years’ experience in recreation services or a related field
  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • A StarGuard Lifeguarding Certification within 90 days of hire or promotion
  • A Starfish Swim Instructor Certification and an Aquatic Facility Operators (AFO) Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

  • StarGuard Lifeguard Training Instructor certification
  • Strafish Swim Instructor Trainer certification
