About The Position

Strive Centre Vancouver is seeking casual/on-call Recreation & Outreach Facilitators to cover shifts between Monday and Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This role involves working with adults with developmental disabilities, concurrent disorders, FASD, Autism, ABI, and mental health issues. Responsibilities include supporting participants in group and one-on-one settings, connecting them with community resources, teaching life skills, facilitating community integration, and assisting them in achieving their goals both in the community and in their homes. Strive is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing residential and community inclusion support since 1988.

Requirements

  • Awareness of and respect for the human rights of persons-in care.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with injuries and/or complex health care needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Interpersonal, leadership and team building skills; take direction and accept constructive criticism.
  • Respect for professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and is self-motivated.
  • Organization and time management abilities. Meets deadlines and prioritizes workload.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to act in accordance with established policies and procedures in the event of emergencies.
  • Familiarity with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to accept change and adapt to a variety of assignments.
  • Criminal Record Clearance, Ministry of Justice.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • 2 professional references.
