About The Position

Strive Centre Vancouver is seeking casual/on-call Recreation & Outreach Facilitators to cover shifts between Monday and Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This role involves working with adults with developmental disabilities, concurrent disorders, FASD, Autism, ABI, and mental health issues. Responsibilities include supporting participants in group and one-on-one settings, connecting them with community resources, teaching life skills, facilitating community integration, and assisting them in achieving their goals both in the community and in their homes. Strive is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing residential and community inclusion support since 1988.

Requirements

Awareness of and respect for the human rights of persons-in care.
Ability to work effectively with individuals with injuries and/or complex health care needs.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with individuals with disabilities.
Knowledge of community resources.
Interpersonal, leadership and team building skills; take direction and accept constructive criticism.
Respect for professional boundaries.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and is self-motivated.
Organization and time management abilities. Meets deadlines and prioritizes workload.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to act in accordance with established policies and procedures in the event of emergencies.
Familiarity with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to accept change and adapt to a variety of assignments.
Criminal Record Clearance, Ministry of Justice.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Eligibility to work in Canada.
First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Food Safe Certificate.
