About The Position

This is a part-time hourly position with the City of Boulder, requiring approximately 19 scheduled weekly hours. The role involves providing exceptional customer service at city recreation facilities, handling cash transactions, and managing registration system functions. The position may also serve as a substitute for higher-level Recreation Member Service Representatives. The job emphasizes customer interaction, program promotion, and facility operations.

Requirements

  • Able to understand and troubleshoot accounting transactions in the registration system.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse people.
  • Ability, interest, and desire to provide excellent customer service in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
  • Knowledge of cash handling.
  • Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of customer service, receptionist, and/or cash handling experience.
  • Current First Aid/AED and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working for a public or private recreation facility.
  • Experience with the Active registration system.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Conversational level in Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to patrons of recreation facilities.
  • Interacts with customers by greeting patrons, answering phones, providing information about services and programs, checking in patrons, and checking out equipment.
  • Communicates effectively with facility patrons in person and over the phone to market and promote Parks and Recreation Programs and services.
  • Operates the registration system, including Point of Sale, Membership/Pass Validation, Facility Reservation, and Program Registration.
  • Registers participants for activities and maintains course waitlists.
  • Assists patrons with rentals of the facility, including birthday parties, meetings, and special events.
  • Performs cash handling in accordance with City and Department policies and internal controls, and accurately balances cash drawer.
  • Resolves customer concerns, incidents, and program issues.
  • Completes accident and incident reports as necessary.
  • Reports facility issues and monitors the facility by periodic building walk-throughs.
  • Opens and closes the facilities.
  • Provides direction and assistance to other front desk employees.
  • Provides general direction to custodial staff as needed.
