About The Position

This position is responsible for the organization and leadership of a variety of recreation activities including, but not limited to, Senior, After School and Day Camp programs.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Recreation or related field
• minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in related field
• First Aid and CPR certification
• ability to obtain National Parks and Recreation certification desired
• valid State of Georgia Driver’s License
• equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of principles, techniques, methods, supplies and equipment applicable to Senior/After School/Day Camp programs
• Knowledge of good public relations practices and principles
• Ability to lead group games and activities
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and other staff members
• Ability to maintain records and create reports
• Ability to supervise subordinate and volunteer work
• Ability to present ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Ability to plan creative, appropriate activities for all ages
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, parents and children

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• ability to obtain National Parks and Recreation certification desired

Responsibilities

• Organizes, promotes, teaches and conducts a variety of recreation activities, such as arts and crafts, sports and games, music, dance, drama, nature study, and special events
• Assists in organizing, promoting and directing tournaments, shows, social exhibits, festivals and special events
• Supervises an assigned functional area of the center, such as gymnasium, athletic field, game room, crafts room, etc.
• Coordinates and assists in conducting organizational and Citywide events
• Plans a variety of activities catering to different age groups and varying degrees of participant skills
• Performs other related duties as assigned
