About The Position

This position will be primarily assigned to the Nancy Hanson Recreation Complex (approximately 98% of scheduled work time) and is expected to work Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Recreation Leader is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating programs; supervising activities and personnel; coordinating leagues; handling financial transactions; ensuring proper facility use; managing records; and developing program activities. This role assists in the development, planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing of multiple recreational and special event activities for all age groups. Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs Director or designee in accordance with established methods, schedules, and procedures. Considerable independent initiative and judgment is exercised in meeting specific program objectives. This is a full-time position, which requires the ability to work flexible hours and weekends.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite familiarity
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles, machinery, and office equipment
  • Able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount constantly
  • Light Work involves significant walking or standing
  • Ability to compare and judge observable characteristics of data, people, or things
  • Ability to convey or exchange information, give instructions, and direct subordinates or program participants
  • Proficient in reading and preparing various documents
  • Capable of speaking before groups with confidence
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret various instructions

  • Ensuring the administration of safety precautions and procedures
  • Rendering non-emergency First Aid, as needed
  • Assisting in the care, maintenance and general cleanliness of City facilities/equipment to include cleaning, reporting maintenance issues, and conducting periodic inventory/inspections to ensure City equipment and property are in good condition
  • Reporting incidents to the manager immediately and completing incident and damage reports/investigations in a timely manner
  • Performing general office duties by keeping records, preparing reports, answering the telephone and dispensing general information as needed
  • Utilizing Windows based operating systems to perform these tasks
