About The Position

Under basic supervision, oversees and leads a variety of recreation programs and events; performs a variety of tasks in support of the assigned area and program. Assists with the day-to-day operation of the fitness center, associated programs and activities. Assists with the enforcement of facility rules, guidelines and procedures. Provide facility control desk support, group fitness class instruction, and general customer service. Supports the maintenance, general care and set-up of fitness facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in recreation programs or working with children
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a fitness facility, or combination of relevant health and fitness experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required fitness certifications.
  • Must possess or ability to obtain a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Knowledge of recreation site safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of methods of program planning and implementation.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Skills in assessing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
  • Skills in administering basic first aid.

Nice To Haves

  • Personal Training Certification or Group Fitness Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads the day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs and activities; and assembles necessary supplies for each activity.
  • May take attendance for assigned group and records names of participants who are not in attendance; calls participants or parents to verify absences as necessary.
  • Oversees, leads, and assists with various activities; observes participants during program; enforces rules and safety procedures; implements disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Participates in facility or venue set-up, clean-up, and sanitation.
  • Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
