About The Position

This part-time position works 10 to 20 hours per week under the supervision of the Food Program Recreation Specialist, Recreation Coordinator, and/or Recreation Supervisor at the Yorba Linda Community Center. Responsibilities include performing a variety of duties relative to the preparation and serving of meals to Senior Citizens during the lunch program. This position will be assigned to work a varied schedule at the Community Center between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, all Parks & Recreation staff members are required to work on the 4th of July.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years old.
  • Class C driver's license required.
  • Possession of a valid first aid and CPR card or the ability to obtain one within the first three months of employment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and methods of food preparation and safety.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Take inventory of all kitchen food, equipment and supplies; including ordering, receiving and storage.
  • Maintain kitchen in clean and sanitary condition; including cleaning of food prep areas, equipment and supplies.
  • Routinely complete food temperatures as required and record and maintain temperature control chart.
  • Practice safe operating procedures and observe all safety regulations and precautions.
  • Check food upon arrival for accurate delivery and complete meal preparation as menu prescribes.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for use for serving of meals.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and food handling techniques.
  • Prepare and reheat food to proper temperatures in order serve meals.
  • Assist monitoring food service volunteers.
  • Routinely check in participants using lunch program registration software and handle cash payments and donations.
  • Set up, arrange, and operate tables, chairs, and audiovisual equipment to support facility activities and special events.
  • Maintain records related to kitchen and volunteer operations.
  • Attend and participate in all mandatory training sessions and meetings as directed by supervisors and/or administrative personnel.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments related to this job as deemed necessary and appropriate.

Benefits

  • Overtime at the rate of one and one half times the hourly rate of the classification is paid for hours in excess of 40 hours per week.
