About The Position

Under basic supervision, oversees and leads a variety of recreation programs and events; performs a variety of tasks in support of the assigned area and program. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching the basic skills and rules of flag football, planning and leading practices and coaching games, encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude. The role involves supervising and leading day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs and activities, assembling necessary supplies, taking attendance, observing participants, enforcing rules and safety procedures, implementing disciplinary actions, and participating in facility set-up, clean-up, and sanitation. The position also supports the relationship between Teton County staff and the public through courteous and cooperative behavior, maintaining confidentiality, and performing other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Up to 1 year of experience in recreation programs or working with children
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Knowledge of recreation site safety rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of methods of program planning and implementation
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks and demands simultaneously
  • Ability to administer basic first aid

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs and activities
  • Assembles necessary supplies for each activity
  • Takes attendance for assigned group and records names of participants who are not in attendance
  • Calls participants or parents to verify absences as necessary
  • Oversees, leads, and assists with various activities
  • Observes participants during program
  • Enforces rules and safety procedures
  • Implements disciplinary actions as necessary
  • Participates in facility or venue set-up, clean-up, and sanitation
  • Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior
  • Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned
  • Teach the basic skills and rules of flag football
  • Plan and lead practices and coach games
  • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude
