About The Position

Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, Recreation Leaders organize and supervise various sports and facilities at Clovis area playgrounds and parks, the recreation center, skatepark, and Clovis Batting Range. The position is for year-round programs in the City's diverse recreation programs. Appointed hours may be during weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Requirements

  • Possession of valid First Aid and CPR certificates, or obtain certificate within three (3) months of hire
  • Education sufficient to assure the ability to read, write, and perform basic math skills at the level required for successful job performance
  • Six (6) months of work experience, internship, or volunteer experience in any field
  • Ability to deliver outstanding customer service, appropriately respond to situations
  • Ability to utilize good judgment and decision making skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working with those contacted relationships in the course of work
  • Ability to enforce facility rules in a positive, professional manner and take appropriate corrective action when necessary
  • Ability to understand rules and procedures and carry out oral and written directions
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively using courtesy, tact and firmness in dealing with the public
  • Ability to practice appropriate safety precautions and procedures
  • Ability to work variable hours and work independently with limited supervision
  • Proof of citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S. will be required at the time of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates will be required to obtain Standard First Aid and Community CPR (adult, child, and infant) certifications at their expense.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise adult indoor and outdoor sports such as inline hockey, basketball, softball, volleyball and soccer
  • Supervise daily operations of the Clovis Batting Range including minor equipment maintenance, inventory, daily revenue accounting and customer service
  • Supervise participants at the Clovis Rotary Skatepark and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Conduct special community recreation events
  • Organize recreation supplies and equipment
  • Complete incident and participation reports
  • Direct the activities of recreation volunteers and referees
  • Perform related duties as assigned
