Are you interested in teaching a fitness class within our Award-winning Parks & Recreation Department? The Recreation Instructor is responsible for special programs sponsored or coordinated by the Parks and Recreation Department. A high level of independent judgment is necessary to be a Recreation Instructor. Instructors are under the direction of the assigned designee. The City Manager oversees all City employees. This position is Contractual Non-Exempt for the purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as having no significant occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and as Non-Safety Sensitive; the Recreation Instructor is subject to reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return to duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City. This position is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 days per week availability during City of Port St Lucie emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager or City Officials.
