About The Position

The City of Beverly Hills is seeking an organized and versatile Recreation Coordinator who is excited about the opportunity to assist in the ongoing growth of programs and operations at the historic Greystone Mansion. In this role, you’ll help coordinate a wide variety of ongoing programs and activities, including rental events, public programs on the grounds, the Inside the Mansion program, the Greystone Theatre, and coordinating with partner organizations. You’ll assist in streamlining procedures and expanding opportunities for use of the Greystone site, bringing ideas forward and working as part of a team on collaborative projects, while always ensuring stewardship of the site remains a priority. We are looking for someone who has strong written and verbal communication skills, and who works well with a wide range of people, including community members, tourists, City staff, Commissioners, and City Councilmembers. An understanding of working in tourist locations and with a wide range of visitors is a plus. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as this role will provide administrative, organizational, and strategic support. You’ll assist with recordkeeping, evaluating programs, and participate in periodic review of printed and public materials. We're looking for a team member who will bring a steady and positive approach to daily problem-solving. You’ll be part of a small team that works together closely, and you will also have the ability to work independently with a deep understanding of policies and procedures. This position requires walking on stairs and uneven surfaces such as slate, doing small event set-ups such as moving chairs and tables, being mobile for extended periods of time (including standing and walking), and working at a computer. The ideal candidate will have interest and/or prior experience in at least one of the following categories: rental events, historic sites/museums, arts and culture, parks, public gardens. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Public Administration or a related field.
  • One year of experience in the implementation of recreational programs or activities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with a wide range of people, including community members, tourists, City staff, Commissioners, and City Councilmembers.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (e.g. Outlooks, Excel, Teams).
  • Proficiency with microphone setup.
  • Comfortable learning new software and technical systems as needed.
  • Experience in areas that require accuracy and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of working in tourist locations and with a wide range of visitors.
  • Interest and/or prior experience in rental events, historic sites/museums, arts and culture, parks, public gardens.
  • Experience coordinating rental events, live performances, and/or cultural public programs.
  • Prior interest or experience in public gardens, historic sites, museums, nature preserves, theaters, or cultural heritage locations.
  • Public speaking experience such as teaching or leading tours.

Benefits

  • Salary and Benefits $64,290.33 - $79,645.65 Annually
  • This position is represented by the Municipal Employees Association, Technical Services and is covered by the negotiated terms and conditions of that Association's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
