About The Position

This position oversees a variety of youth and adult programs and special events for the Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities include all aspects of program and event operations. Fiscal accountability is required with the Department's budget preparation and implementation including forecasting funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies. Submit participation and financial reports as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years parks and recreation experience.
  • One year in a supervisory role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and main server applications.
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional.
  • Proficient in department registration/reservation software or within one month of hire.
  • Proficient in City of Conroe software applications or within one month of hire.
  • American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
  • Able to use an AED within three months of hire.
  • Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license or higher.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Must comply with City of Conroe direct deposit payroll policy.
  • Proven knowledge and abilities in a wide variety of recreation programs and events including sports, classes, activities and themed special events throughout the year.
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment.
  • A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of program and event operations.
  • Fiscal accountability including budget preparation and implementation.
  • Forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Submit participation and financial reports as requested.
  • Recruit, hire, train, assign, supervise, and evaluate program and event support staff and contracted program vendors.
  • Improve existing programs and events.
  • Organize new programs and events through the stages of planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating.
  • Budget preparation and execution.
  • Program marketing and collaborations with other organizations.
  • Interact directly with the public utilizing excellent communication and customer service skills.
