About The Position

Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Recreation Coordinator in the Athletics department. This is a Full-Time, 40 weeks per year position. The candidate would be expected to be responsible for supervision of Graduate Assistants, intramural & sport club participants, supervisors, officials, scorekeepers, and playing areas; develop, revise, and implement guidelines and procedures to govern the Sport Club Program; receive and evaluate sport club practice and event requests and collaborate with on-campus facility liaisons for scheduling; ensure student clubs complete all appropriate forms and documents to maintain active club status. This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2 Years of related experience.
  • A valid driver’s license in your state of residence and have had no serious violations (Type A) within the past five (5) years and no more than three (3) moving violations (Type B) in the past three (3) years.
  • Possess American Red Cross/CPR/AED certification or obtain within two weeks of employment.
  • Knowledge of best practices and standards in collegiate recreation.
  • Basic Knowledge of MS Word and Excel 2016.
  • Must be able to work evening hours and some weekends, often working in an outdoor environment in fall and spring.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of several sports’ rules, including but not limited to: Flag Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer.
  • Sports officiating/supervisor experience in at least two different team sport activities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervision of Graduate Assistants, intramural & sport club participants, supervisors, officials, marketing personnel, scorekeepers, and playing areas.
  • Develop, revise, and implement guidelines and procedures to govern the Recreation Program.
  • Schedule all intramural programming, ensuring optimum use of shared space.
  • Receive and evaluate sport club practice and event requests and collaborate with on-campus facility liaisons for scheduling.
  • Ensure student clubs complete all appropriate forms and documents to maintain active club status.
  • Assist with the advising of students initiating new clubs and providing support through the process of becoming a registered student organization.
  • Monitor the social media accounts/sites of sport club organizations; encourage an active and appropriate media presence to recruit, retain, and inform members, and promote club activities and accomplishments.
  • Assist with the management of the Intramural and club sport budget; advise club treasurers on financial policies, and facilitate purchases as needed.
  • Provide on-site event management and logistical assistance for intramural and sport club home matches, games, and tournaments.
  • Serve as a risk management liaison to Recreation Program.
  • Assist in recruiting, training and supervision of all undergraduate and graduate student employees.
  • Assist with product evaluation, purchasing and coordinate inventory control of equipment and supplies used in the programming.
  • Work with students and administration in scheduling student recreation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
