About The Position

This job announcement is for multiple year-round part-time Recreation Specialist I openings. The role involves performing clerical duties at one of the City's recreation facilities. Duties may vary depending on the event or facility assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level employee who provides written and oral instructions. Work is reviewed by the immediate supervisor, and constant supervision is not necessary for routine tasks. This is a temporary part-time position with a 32-hour weekly cap, in accordance with City of Fort Lauderdale Policy and Standards Manual. This position is At-Will and is not covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement or the Personnel Rules.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or G.E.D. or be a graduating senior
  • Must be 18 years old or older (or 17 if a graduating senior)
  • 6 months clerical experience preferred
  • Rec Trac trained within 30 days of hire
  • Candidates must pass a fingerprinting/background screening process prior to employment
  • If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form (J-204) to the online application.
  • Employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency.
  • All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

  • Calendar management
  • Electronic and hard copy record keeping
  • Document and data tracking
  • Composition of memoranda and spreadsheets
  • Program registration and revenue collection
  • Monthly invoicing of program participants
  • Performing other duties associated with the day-to-day operation of professional government offices
  • May work weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Performs related work as required
