About The Position

This classification assists with parks and recreation operations and activities. The role involves customer service, monitoring facility usage, assisting with daily operations, responding to emergencies, and completing various administrative tasks. Specific duties may vary depending on assignment to either the Programs Division or the Athletic Division.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Performs customer service functions, including answering phones, providing information on programs and activities, and distributing forms.
  • Monitors individuals and organizations using recreation facilities and participating in programs, assisting instructors and explaining rules.
  • Assists with daily facility operations, including setting up equipment and performing housekeeping tasks.
  • Responds to emergency situations related to recreation center operations or athletic fields.
  • Completes various forms, reports, and other documentation.
  • Operates a personal computer and general office equipment, utilizing various software programs.
  • Communicates with supervisor, other departments, employees, and the public to coordinate activities and resolve problems.
  • Provides information to the community regarding recreation and athletic programs, activities, facilities, schedules, and fees.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable department and county policies and procedures.
  • Inspects facilities to ensure timely preparation, identifies malfunctioning equipment or safety hazards, and initiates corrective action.
  • Receives and processes payments for fees, records transactions, and issues receipts (Programs Division).
  • Maintains and updates activity schedules and room reservation schedules (Programs Division).
  • Registers individuals for recreational programs and facilities, collects fees, and maintains registration records (Programs Division).
  • Performs facility opening and closing procedures (Programs Division).
  • Prepares and sets up athletic fields and recreational facilities for scheduled events (Athletic Division).
  • Grooms baseball/softball fields and recreational facilities (Athletic Division).
  • Repairs or replaces pitching rubbers, pitching mounds, and bases (Athletic Division).
  • Maintains infield areas, removes litter, and notifies maintenance staff for litter removal (Athletic Division).
  • Monitors and inspects park facilities for problems and needed repairs (Athletic Division).
  • Operates a variety of hand tools associated with projects and work activities (Athletic Division).
  • Performs general clerical tasks such as making copies, filing, and processing mail.
  • Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
