About The Position

This is a responsible position assisting with operations, programming, services and activities at various facilities, parks and special events. Work is performed under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. The role involves providing front-line services, managing transactions, monitoring activities, ensuring safety, and supporting various operational tasks. Employees may also be required to assist with special events, marketing efforts, and emergency response operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of recreational programs, activities and services.
  • Knowledge of the techniques, tools, materials and equipment used in the delivery of recreational programs and events.
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment and procedures.
  • Skilled in the use of small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
  • Skilled in using computers for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes.
  • Ability to work varied hours during days, nights, weekends and some holidays.
  • Ability to understand and enforce rules and regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and maintain simple records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to think clearly in emergency situations when necessary.
  • Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.
  • High School Diploma from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of customer service experience in recreation, aquatics or related field.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within first year of employment.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain Food Handler Certification as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with coordination and instruction of programming and activities.
  • Provides front line services at various parks and facilities, including data entry, registrations, facility rentals, collecting fees, concession services (if applicable) and generating associated reports.
  • Completes point of sale, admission, pass and membership sale transactions following cash handling protocols.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries and provides general information to patrons and public.
  • Monitors activities, programs, rentals and enforces park and facility rules to ensure a safe environment.
  • Ensures that medical assistance is readily available, including CPR, First Aid, and follows appropriate reporting requirements when necessary.
  • Assists with opening, closing, and securing facilities in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Performs light housekeeping and provides operational support with set up and break down of rentals, programs, activities and events.
  • Inspects equipment and facilities for proper condition, cleanliness and safety and maintains quality appearance of work site.
  • Monitors inventory and efficiently utilizes materials and supplies, notifying supervisor of any deficiencies or shortages.
  • Follows proper health, safety and sanitation procedures as applicable.
  • Assists with special events and specialty projects as needed.
  • Supports Department marketing and outreach efforts.
  • All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description.
