About The Position

Performs customer service duties at Garey Park. Monitors activities of participants, issues equipment and provide program and membership information to customers. This is a part-time, on-call position. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, providing customer service to all participants in activities and programs at area of assignment; registering participants and members for activities, programs and services; collecting pay for fees and memberships and reconciling receipts and cash register at the end of shift; processing member paperwork, including address changes, member cancellations, new members, electronic funds transfers and payments; monitoring activities offered through the City Parks & Recreation Division to ensure compliance with rules and policies and safety guidelines; distributing recreation equipment to customers; opening and closing center according to established policies and procedures; responding to inquiries and/or complaints from citizens and contract instructors; completing report forms including incident/accident and facility tracking reports; assisting other staff members with computer input for programs, filing of forms, and flyer distribution; performing routine maintenance and cleaning in and around facility; and participating and assisting with monthly special events and programs (evenings & weekends) or other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of customer service or public contact.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License
  • Must possess or must obtain CPR certification within six (6) months from date of employment.
  • Must possess or must obtain First Aid certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Working well with adults and children.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Monitoring center health and safety compliance policies and procedures.
  • Resolving customer complaints and concerns.
  • Taking messages and writing reports.
  • Performing basic math calculations to make change.
