About The Position

Responsible for carrying out specialty programs, such as performing arts and other clubs, athletic and other teams, and general recreation activities, in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives. Assists the Recreation Supervisor in planning, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive and diversified program that will attract voluntary participation. Organizes and supervises student participation in a variety of recreation and vocation activities. Conducts recreation classes. Chaperones students during off-center recreation activities. Coordinates the new enrollee recreation orientation and RAP programs. Works with the Wellness Manager in implementing the weight-improvement program. Assists with the center’s creative arts programs. Instructs in a variety of specialty activities (e.g., drama, dance, music) and the clubs program. Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate employability skills, including personal responsibility and computer fluency. Adheres to safety practices in all recreational activities, including water sports. Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center. Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property. Reports violations of ethical behavior. Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste. Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience in recreation or physical education and in working with youth
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and water safety certifications
  • Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • If position requires driving, a valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required
  • I-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
