About The Position

The Recreation Aide organizes and directs trainees in leisure-time recreation/non-vocational activities and leadership programs. This role involves assisting with center-sponsored trips and events, potentially driving students, and supporting Water Safety programming. The Aide may also provide instruction in various recreational clubs and creative activities, and mentor students in the Recreation Aide Program to help establish life skills. Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country, helping eligible young people complete their high school education, train for careers, and obtain employment.

Requirements

Associates of Arts degree or one (1) year of related experience working with youth.
Must be flexible with work schedule to include weekends, holidays and/or nights.
Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Organizes and directs trainees in leisure-time recreation/non-vocational activities and leadership programs.
Assists in center-sponsored trips and events including escorting and chaperoning.
May drive students on trips/events.
Assists with Water Safety programming (videos, swimming certification and swim lessons) and CIS documentation- if applicable.
May provide instructions to trainees in various recreational clubs such as sports, poetry, drama, talent shows, etc., and other creative activities, such as arts and crafts.
Mentor students in Recreation Aide Program to help establish life skills.
