About The Position

Provides customer service to patrons and clerical support by performing various duties. This is a year-around part-time position requiring 20 hours per week. Responsibilities include welcoming and assisting visitors, answering phones, managing program flyers, handling cash transactions, monitoring recreation center and Boat House users, providing information on programs, performing general clerical tasks, utilizing company software for customer enrollment and reservations, and managing recreation equipment and supplies. Specific duties for the Boat House position include preparing daily reports and deposits, working outdoors in variable weather conditions, assisting patrons in and out of watercraft, potentially driving a GEM vehicle and trailer, maintaining the GEM vehicle, performing opening and closing procedures, cleaning equipment, and potentially working alone. The role also involves assisting with recreation programs, activities, special projects, and events, which may require working nights, weekends, or holidays. The position is safety-sensitive and subject to random drug testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a Texas driver’s license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Pass background check.
  • Eligible status on Motor Vehicle Report.

  • Employee may be required to work special events on nights, weekends, or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist visitors or direct them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Answer phones; answer routine questions or direct calls to appropriate staff member, take messages as needed.
  • Ensure that program flyers are updated and posted appropriately.
  • Perform cash handling duties, make change, and input fees and issues receipts.
  • Record amount received and prepared report of transactions using computer software.
  • Monitor users of recreation center, Boat House, and participants in recreation programs to ensure orderly conduct.
  • Provide information on programs, activities, and events in person or by phone.
  • Provide general clerical support including typing, filing, and copying.
  • Utilize company software to enroll customers in programs.
  • Receive, issue, and store recreation equipment and supplies.
  • Input data into computer for registration process.
  • Enroll customers in activities and create reservations.
  • Perform facility opening and closing procedures, such as ensuring the facility is secure, rooms are set-up and break-down for programs, equipment is picked-up etc.
  • Assist with recreation programs, activities, special projects, and events as required.
  • Prepare daily reports and deposits for the Boat House.
  • Work outdoors in variable weather conditions, year-round.
  • Assist patrons in and out of the watercraft.
  • Drive the GEM vehicle, trailer with kayaks to the Lakes Edge Boat House facility.
  • Maintain GEM vehicle.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the Boat House, such as ensuring the facility and equipment is secure.
  • Power-wash kayaks and clean life jackets.
  • May work alone from time to time.
