About The Position

The Recreation Aide, Youth Center will be responsible for planning and executing recreational activities for youth enrolled in evening and weekend recreational components. This role involves supervising all program participants, ensuring proper sign-in procedures, and adhering to site-specific guidelines and program staff manuals. The aide must prioritize quality services and the safety and care of all children, proactively reporting any behaviors or incidents that impede these goals, including physical injury or emotional/social harm. Utilizing principles of positive youth development, the aide will employ behavior management and discipline techniques that foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth, and build self-esteem and responsibility. Building positive relationships with and among participants and acting as a role model are key aspects of this position. The aide will also assist with any program activity deemed necessary by program administration.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be able to meet set deadlines.
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Must have a genuine love for working with children and must want to serve as a mentor

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that participants are properly signing in on daily attendance sheets.
  • Adhering to site-specific memoranda and program staff manual which includes staff and program specific requirements in a proactive manner, making the provision of quality services and the safety and care of all children the primary focus.
  • Notifying supervisors of any and all behaviors that impede the provision of quality services and the safety of participants and staff. This includes the proactive reporting of incidents involving physical injury or emotional/social harm-doing.
  • Utilizing principles of positive youth development through use of behavior management and discipline techniques that foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth, and build self-esteem and responsibility in all participants.
  • Building positive relationships with and among participants, and acting as a role model.
  • Assisting with any program activity deemed necessary by program administration.
