About The Position

The Recovery Technician operates a straight truck to collect used oil, filters, and plastics throughout the designated province. The role requires professionalism and strong customer service to build positive customer relationships and promote GFL’s service offerings. The technician handles cargo and documentation, operates and inspects vehicles safely, communicates with customers and coworkers, and performs loading and unloading duties. The position is with GFL Environmental in Freeport, Texas.

Requirements

• High school diploma at minimum.
• Certification from a recognized truck driving school.
• Valid commercial driver's license.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Manual dexterity and ability to lift 75 pounds or more.
• Ability to pass a drug screen before starting.
• Clear driving record.
• Overtime as required; weekend work may be required, with a weekly on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

• Operate a straight truck to collect used oil, filters, and plastics.
• Oversee cargo handling, secure loads, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Perform trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness.
• Maintain and verify load-related documentation, including manifests, driver logbooks, and bills of lading.
• Operate trucks safely, maneuvering for loading and unloading, inspecting vehicles, reporting defects, and following transportation laws.
• Communicate with customers, coworkers, and the public to support timely, professional service.
• Perform loading and unloading duties and clean up debris.
• Provide feedback on issues and train others when required.
• Build positive customer relationships and promote GFL service offerings.
