About The Position

Under the clinical supervision of the Lead Recovery Support Specialist, the Recovery Support Specialist at Mirror residential facilities is responsible for monitoring client behavior and movements, transporting clients, observing client urinalysis screens, and supporting the clinical programs and services offered by Mirror. The role operates in accordance with company policies and all applicable laws and regulations, including those from the Kansas Department of Aging & Disability Services and various contractual agreements. Duties include client supervision, charting client behavior, clerical tasks, security, collection and paperwork for urinalysis testing, and assisting clinical staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development certificate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word.
  • Good reading, writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize and follow through with multiple tasks related to client charting (within the electronic record) and tracking the physical whereabouts of the clients.
  • Capable of working over-time hours past 40.
  • Awareness of the disease of addiction.
  • Must be able to pass KBI (et al.) security check.
  • Employees diagnosed with any type of substance use disorder or behavioral addiction/compulsion must have sustained a minimum of two consecutive years of abstinence and be in full sustained remission.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills and/or experience or skills with an Electronic Health Record.
  • Job functions may involve some walking, climbing stairs, bending, lifting (or assisting) up to 40/50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • College courses in human services or the field of addiction.
  • Experience in supervising and interacting with persons addicted to drugs or the prison population.
  • Basic understanding of Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise clients during assigned hours.
  • Monitor groups as required.
  • Provide educational presentations and facilitate recreation therapy as directed by supervisor.
  • Familiarize yourself daily with the status of each client through oral conferences with the primary counselor or by checking the counselor's charting in Credible. Check the staff communication log.
  • Complete orientation related paperwork on each client as directed by supervisor.
  • Provide transportation for clients to community-based providers (e.g., court hearings, doctor’s offices, parole/probation officers).
  • Maintain a record of all client movement within the facility.
  • Maintain client and program confidentiality as required by federal laws.
  • Supervise clients during urine specimen collection process during assigned hours.
  • Notify the appropriate person if a client fails to provide a urine sample when required.
  • Ensure the safety of clients by securing the Mirror Residential building while on duty.
  • Monitor referred clients as necessary on Mirror property, at Mirror-related activities, or during scheduled appointments with community providers.
  • Maintain an accurate record of client behavior and program-related activities in the client’s daily case record within Credible.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings as directed by the Facility Director.
  • Assist in the collection of client fees, record and deposit client co-payments if required.
  • Assure that copies of all official program communications and client-related materials are filed appropriately.
  • Duplicate records and papers as required.
  • Handle crisis situations, intervening appropriately to diffuse or de-escalate potentially harmful situations.
  • Be available for case staffing conferences when requested by supervisor.
  • Assist Mirror's counseling and administrative staff with KDADS compliance and/or funding source audit conditions.
  • Perform other job-related functions as directed by immediate supervisor.
