Community-based services that dispatch mental health professionals to safely de-escalate behavioral health crises on-site. They provide immediate evaluations, safety planning, and crisis stabilization as a trauma-informed alternative to law enforcement or emergency room visits. This is an on-call position requiring a minimum of 8 shifts per month, including weekends and holidays, with the expectation to be on-site within 30 minutes of being called in. The pay rate for on-call shifts is $17.05/hr. Recovery Support Specialists utilize their personal experience in recovery to provide peer support services to patients experiencing mental health and/or drug/alcohol issues. The role reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adhering to ethical codes and compliance programs. Specialists create a safe space for consumers to process crisis events, learn wellness strategies, and prevent future crises, operating from the Crisis Now concept with a focus on recovery orientation, trauma-informed care, and viewing crises as learning opportunities to proactively divert crises and break the cycle of hospitalizations.
