About The Position

The Recovery Specialist serves as a mentor, advocate, educator, and coordinator for individuals affected by substance use disorders. This position provides recovery support, patient engagement, care coordination, education, community outreach, and grant-related administrative support to promote long-term recovery and positive health outcomes. The Recovery Specialist collaborates with healthcare providers, community partners, and internal team members to ensure continuity of care and compliance with program and grant requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or training in peer recovery support, behavioral health, social services, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in peer support, recovery coaching, case management, healthcare coordination, behavioral health, or community outreach preferred.
  • Experience with grant documentation, reporting, and data collection preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator for individuals in recovery to support long-term recovery and relapse prevention.
  • Assist individuals in identifying recovery goals, strengths, barriers, and available resources.
  • Coordinate care and support services before, during, and after patient encounters.
  • Connect individuals to healthcare, behavioral health, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), prevention services, and community resources.
  • Provide support during patient encounters, including admissions paperwork, assessments, vital signs collection (as trained and authorized), patient observation, and follow-up activities.
  • Deliver education regarding substance use disorders, opioid use disorders, recovery resources, and wellness strategies to patients, families, and community members.
  • Collaborate with hospitals, emergency departments, schools, community organizations, and other referral partners to coordinate services and improve access to care.
  • Participate in community outreach activities, educational presentations, and awareness initiatives.
  • Collect, track, maintain, aggregate, and report program data, documentation, and grant deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and supporting documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist with grant-funded projects, special initiatives, and community-based programs.
  • Coordinate meetings, referrals, and communication among patients, providers, and community partners as needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy and ethical standards.
  • Demonstrate professional boundaries and ethical conduct in all interactions.
  • Participate in required safety programs and emergency response activities as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned to support business operations.
