About The Position

Aspire Health and Community Services is seeking a Recovery Coach to assist clients with a dual diagnosis of Serious Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorder in their recovery. This role is crucial in facilitating National Outcome Measures reassessments, participating in team meetings to review client care, and relaying client concerns. The Recovery Coach will report to the CBHC Project Manager and collaborate with the Program Director, Client Navigator, and Clinicians to ensure client engagement and support throughout their treatment process. There is a possibility of a dual reporting relationship as CBHC services are integrated across the organization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completed training as a Recovery Coach, including ethics training required
  • Certified Addictions Recovery Coach (CARC), or willing to obtain certification within six months of hire
  • Candidate who identifies as being in recovery from a substance use disorder and is willing to share details of his or her personal recovery experience
  • Minimum two years of sustained sobriety
  • Enthusiastic about providing support to clients in early recovery from a substance use disorder and is open to multiple pathways of recovery from substance use
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team
  • Computer proficiency
  • Valid driver’s license, access to personal vehicle, and good driving record required

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer counseling and support, drawing on common experiences as a peer, to validate clients’ experiences and to provide guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery with a focus on substance use.
  • Provide expertise and consultation from a mental health/substance use consumer perspective to the entire team concerning clients’ experiences on symptoms of mental illness, the effects and side-effects of medications, clients’ responses to and opinions of treatment and client’s experiences of recovery.
  • Collaborate with the team to promote a team culture in which each clients’ point of view, experiences, and preferences are recognized, understood, and respected, and in which client self-determination and decision-making in treatment planning are maximized and supported.
  • Help clients identify, understand, and combat stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and develop strategies to reduce self-stigma.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the protection of clients’ rights to help clients improve their knowledge of client rights and grievance or complaint procedures.
  • Increase awareness of and support client participation in consumer self-help programs and consumer advocacy organizations that promote recovery.
  • Facilitate National Outcome Measures reassessments in accordance with federal requirements and timelines.
  • Participate in team meetings to review client care and relay any concerns the clients may have expressed.
