About The Position

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency whose mission is to treat and prevent substance use disorders and mental illness. High Point has programs located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Programs and services also assist survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness. High Point believes that everyone has inherent goodness, worth, and dignity. Our goal is to help individuals and families achieve personal change and improve their quality of life. High Point provides a range of community-based services including Community Based Recovery Support (CBRS). CBRS was created to provide additional support to people as they work on their recovery within their communities. Often, clients who have been in an addiction treatment or Section 35 facility and are transitioning back into their communities' benefit from extra support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Lived experience with substance use and recovery
  • Completion of Recovery Coach Academy (RCA) and Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches (ECRC) trainings
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse legal, social, economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds
  • Understanding of professional boundaries and ethics in peer support roles
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn program-specific systems, including electronic medical records
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, team-based program
  • Ability to comply with all applicable federal and state regulations, including 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA
  • Presents as courteous, professional, and recovery-focused at all times
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates strong time-management skills and responsiveness to assigned tasks

Responsibilities

  • Must provide emotional, social, and recovery-focused peer support and establish respectful, collaborative relationships with Members
  • Must support Members in identifying recovery goals, developing a Wellness Plan, and building recovery-supportive routines and life skills
  • Must assist Members in strengthening recovery-supportive relationships, including family, peers, and community networks
  • Must support Members in navigating treatment, medical, behavioral health, peer recovery, and social service systems, including criminal justice and child welfare
  • Must assist with practical needs such as benefit applications, appointment scheduling, and follow-up, transportation planning, housing stability efforts, and addressing barriers to care, including preventive, reproductive, and perinatal health services
  • Must serve as a recovery liaison and advocate as appropriate, including preparing for or accompanying Members to meetings with probation, child welfare, or other systems, while supporting the development of self-advocacy skills
  • Must collaborate with Clinicians, Recovery Support Navigators (RSN), Community Support Navigators (CSN) and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and community referrals
  • Must provide culturally responsive and strengths-based services that honor diversity in culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, lived experiences, and pathways to recovery
  • Must maintain appropriate level of productivity/billable hours
  • Must participate in required supervisions which include: a. One (1) hour per week of individual supervision with a Recovery Coach Supervisor b. Two (2) additional hours per week of virtual recovery coach group supervision
  • Must provide temporary transportation as needed to support client’s recovery goals
  • Must document patient engagements in EHR system
