About The Position

This position is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and assigning all abuse reports received from the Florida Abuse Hotline. The Records Technician will follow up with appropriate supervisory personnel to ensure they are aware of pending investigations and staff assignments. This role provides clerical support for a multi-function Family Safety Unit and involves coordination with various state systems such as the Florida Abuse Hotline Information system (FAHIS), Child Information System (CIS), and Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Two years of clerical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of the methods for organizing and presenting data.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and to make presentations.
  • Ability to collect, record and analyze data relating to records or operational procedures.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Responsibilities

  • Print and review all abuse reports received from the Hotline and OTI requests called in from other counties.
  • Coordinate with the Florida Abuse Hotline Information system (FAHIS), Child Information System (CIS) and Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN).
  • Review appropriate databases for previous or open investigations and child family involvement with other family safety programs.
  • Provide clerical support for a multi-function Family Safety Unit.
  • Prepare intake case records for Child Protective Investigator for cases received over the Child Abuse Hotline.
  • Assign cases to CPI or CPI Supervisor.
  • Package investigation information and conduct diligent searches.
  • Archive case files and maintain rotation and case logs.
