About The Position

This position is in OPS (Other Personnel Services) and will be used to fill position vacancies. Current employees will be compensated in accordance with the DCF salary policy. The Records Technician will be responsible for receiving, reviewing, and assigning all abuse reports received from the Florida Abuse Hotline. Additionally, they will follow up with appropriate supervisory personnel to ensure they are aware of pending investigations and staff assignments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Two years of clerical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of the methods for organizing and presenting data.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and to make presentations.
  • Ability to collect, record and analyze data relating to records or operational procedures.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Participation in the State of Florida Direct Deposit Program is required.
  • Male candidates born on or after October 1, 1962, must be registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) before their 26th birthday or have a Letter of Registration Exemption from the SSS.
  • Must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check.
  • Must be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and, if applicable, Chapter 408, F.S.

Responsibilities

  • Print and review all abuse reports received from the Hotline and OTI requests called in from other counties.
  • Coordinate with the Florida Abuse Hotline Information system (FAHIS), Child Information System (CIS), and Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN).
  • Review appropriate databases for previous or open investigations and child family involvement with other family safety programs.
  • Provide clerical support for a multi-function Family Safety Unit.
  • Prepare intake case records for Child Protective Investigator for cases received over the Child Abuse Hotline.
  • Assign cases in Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) and notify CPI.
  • Follow the same procedure for any Out-of-town Inquiry Request that is received.
  • Assign cases to CPI or CPI Supervisor.
  • Package investigation information and conduct diligent searches.
  • Archive case files and maintain rotation and case logs.
  • Make case folders for CPIs.
  • Help clients as needed when they come into the office.
