About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at the Statewide Records Retention Center in Raiford, FL. This position reports to Central Office in Tallahassee, FL. The purpose of the Records Specialist is to serve as the primary contact for managing and releasing inmate medical records, ensuring legal compliance with Department of Corrections regulations and federal and state laws, and coordinating responses to legal and law enforcement inquiries, subpoenas, and court orders. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must have five (5) years of experience using Microsoft Office programs
  • Must have experience with HIPAA and or Freedom of Information Act (Public Records Request.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the main contact for sharing inmate medical information, always considering legal requirements.
  • Locates, copies, and sends medical records for approved information releases.
  • Handles phone inquiries from attorneys, law enforcement, and inmates’ families about medical records, following all regulations and laws.
  • Logs and tracks all requests for information and checks forms for accuracy and proper signatures.
  • Processes subpoenas and court orders by securing, copying, and sending records to legal authorities, and keeps detailed logs of these actions.
