About The Position

This is a part-time position responsible for operating computer systems, inputting data, handling telephone communications, greeting and assisting the public, tracking data and invoicing, reading and comprehending manuals and instructions, operating fax and copier machines, creating and maintaining information logs, completing paperwork, maintaining files, following established procedures, complying with security and safety procedures, and responding to requests under the Public Information Act. The position also involves contributing to a positive work environment and may require working overtime, including during emergency situations. The City reserves the right to require employees to work overtime during emergencies, potentially performing duties different from their normal scope of work.

Requirements

  • Applicable Federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances;
  • Must be proficient in composition, grammar, spelling, and general writing skills.
  • Ability to do multiple functions in work environment.
  • Organizational skills a must.
  • Must be able to work alone and with groups
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Computer experience with Windows based programs.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation, and all pre-employment screenings
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Operates computer system and accurately inputs data into in-house system.
  • Operates telephones, including transferring calls to proper area and personnel. Speaks in a courteous manner while communicating with callers.
  • Greet and Assist Public
  • Track Data and Invoicing as needed.
  • Reads and comprehends manuals and instructions.
  • Comprehend and follow verbal instructions.
  • Operates fax and copier machines.
  • Creates and maintains information logs as required.
  • Accurately completes all paperwork in an understandable manner.
  • Understand and maintain files as required.
  • Follow established procedures.
  • Reads, understands, and complies with all security and safety procedures.
  • Respond in a timely and accurate manner to requests under the Public Information Act
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing other essential duties as assigned
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Subject to 24- hour recall: The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime including during emergency situations (defined as any natural or man-made disaster that may or may not necessitate the relocation of City personnel or citizens). In the event of an emergency and/or a required evacuation, the incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position.
