About The Position

West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Part-time, on-call Recording Engineer. The Department of Music & Theatre seeks to hire freelance Recording Engineers to run sessions in our recording studio on a temporary contractual basis. This is a Part-Time Temporary Position. Recording engineers at WLU are expected to run every aspect of a recording session they are assigned to and follow all studio, department, and university procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience with Pro Tools software is required.
  • Bachelor of Music degree in Music Technology from WLU, a bachelor's degree in audio engineering (or similar) from a different university, or significant professional experience as determined by the current music technology faculty member(s) at West Liberty University following an interview.
  • Proficiency in ProTools software.
  • Proficiency in the care and use of microphones and microphone-related equipment.
  • Proficiency in the proper use and maintenance of all studio equipment including, but not limited to, cables, patchbays, preamps, direct boxes, computers, monitors, displays, hard drives, and instruments.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successfully passing a background screening report is required for final employment.

Responsibilities

  • Audio recording, tracking, signal processing, mixing, and mastering.
