Reconstruction Superintendent
About The Position
Paul Davis is a leading after-disaster restoration company dedicated to helping communities recover and rebuild following fires, floods, and other disasters. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and quality work to restore homes and businesses to their pre-loss condition. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Reconstruction Superintendent to lead our reconstruction efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in construction, and a deep understanding of restoration processes. This role involves overseeing internal and external carpenters, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction or restoration management, with a focus on disaster recovery.
- Proven experience in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities
- Recruit & train external sub-trades and in-house carpenters.
- Supervise and mentor reconstruction team members, including in-house carpenters and external sub-trades.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional development.
- Manage all phases of reconstruction projects from planning through scheduling, execution, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with clients, project managers and subcontractors to facilitate smooth project flow and communication.
- Ensure all materials needed are readily available, whether it be in inventory or on the job site.
- Arrange to have a cleaner on site after the rebuild is complete.
- Establish and enforce quality assurance standards and procedures to ensure work meets company and industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform final walkthrough with labourer and the client to ensure satisfaction and obtain signature on completion certificates.
- Evaluate client concerns and determine if the repair is covered by our guarantee.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Obtain multiple quotes when specialists are needed to ensure the best cost-to-value.
- Ensure all reconstruction activities comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations, including building codes and safety standards.
- Promote a culture of safety within the team and implement best practices to minimize risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction throughout the reconstruction process.
- Follow up with the project manager and report any schedule delays or site problems.
