About The Position

Provide customer service, answers and directs phone calls, emails, etc. to the appropriate individuals. This role involves welcoming visitors, performing clerical functions, and maintaining a positive and compliant work environment. The receptionist will also be responsible for promoting teamwork, safety, and adherence to facility policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Exceptional people skills that include proper phone etiquette
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents/ patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult residents/patients, family, and staff.
  • Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Successfully follows oral and written instructions.
  • Successfully relays information concerning business office matters, residents, employees, or any given subject matter.
  • Willing to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in various excel, word, adobe, and other electronic reporting formats.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Welcome visitors and provide tours when applicable or appropriate.
  • Perform a variety of clerical functions as assigned by Administrator or Business Office manager.
  • Utilize and be proficient in various excel, word, adobe, and other electronic reporting formats.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations as requested.
  • Attend meetings as required or necessary.
  • Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
  • Promote positivity and active daily problem solving.
  • Read and stay informed regarding developments in the skilled nursing sector and associated support services, regulatory, business practices and other entities potentially influencing the facility’s fiscal health.
  • Review and develop a plan of correction for accounting deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such plan to the Administrator.
  • Promote and encourage an environment of trust within the Business Office as well as with department heads and all facility employees.
  • Promote safe work practices, safety rules, and accident prevention procedures to prevent employee injury and illness.
  • Treat all customers with dignity and respect.
  • Promote and protect all residents’ rights (where applicable).
  • Establish a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility/agency policies and procedures.
  • Comply with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Follow appropriate safety and hygiene measures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
  • Report noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel.
  • Report any retaliation or discrimination to HR or compliance officer.
  • Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents/patients to supervisor and/or administrator.
  • Protect residents/patients from abuse and cooperate with all investigations.
  • Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility/ agency policy.
  • Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings.
  • Fulfill responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility/ agency’s emergency plan.
  • Report work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
  • Follow established infection control policies and procedures (where applicable).
  • Complete all assigned training as a condition of employment.
  • Communicate with all departments.
  • Work to task completion despite frequent interruptions.
