About The Position

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Receptionist to join our team in Quogue, NY for a 6-week contract assignment. The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, staff, and vendors, providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the front office. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple administrative tasks in a professional school environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Clear and legible handwriting.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English clearly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience answering multi-line telephone systems and directing calls professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and filing systems.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment, including telephones, copiers, printers, and scanners.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous receptionist, front desk, or administrative office experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel), are preferred.
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist visitors, parents, students, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, take accurate messages, and direct calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate appointments with teachers and staff as needed.
  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
  • Record check deposits accurately in the designated check log.
  • Maintain office logs, filing systems, and general records in an organized manner.
  • Perform data entry and other routine clerical tasks.
  • Assist with general administrative support as assigned by the School Business Administrator.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and student records.
  • Ensure the reception area remains organized, welcoming, and professional.
  • Support daily office operations and assist with additional administrative duties as needed.

Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour (depending on experience)
