About The Position

The Academy Receptionist are integral staff members within GTEC. In addition to the administrivia that this position requires, this person has an active role in the recruitment and retention cycle for all current and potential students. Requirements

  • High School Education
  • 2 years related experience and/or training.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly with employees and guests using effective speaking and writing skills in English and Spanish.
  • Able to translate between the two languages accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate words and instructions clearly and accurately.
  • Able to manage difficult visitor situations in the lobby area.
  • Very good telephone etiquette; able to determine business nature of the caller and direct to the appropriate contact at The Excel Center.
  • Basic Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage recruitment reports and responses to inquiries from all students interested in enrolling or re-enrolling into the school.
  • Collaborate with Recruitment and Retention Specialists to monitor student enrollment and to identify pathways to successful enrollment.
  • Make phone calls to potential students, chronically tardy/absent students and/or notify Director and Recruitment Specialists of outcomes.
  • Professionally communicate as you answer phones in a timely manner.
  • Take messages/route calls to appropriate personnel, screen calls for the superintendent, directors, and teachers.
  • Professionally greet visitors/guests, ascertain business, direct to proper location/personnel.
  • Conduct tours for potential students.
  • Prepare documents (Word & Excel) as directed.
  • Maintain employees sign in/out log; maintain visitor sign-in log; issue visitor badges for the location assigned.
  • Miscellaneous duties (I.e. signing for deliveries and informing intended recipients).
  • Coordinate scheduling for back-up relief; advise supervisor concerning scheduling conflicts and assistance required.
  • Support students, teachers, life coaches, and other staff with translation needs.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
