About The Position

Good Samaritan Hospital is seeking a dedicated Receptionist to join their GSPN OB/GYN team. For over 115 years, Good Samaritan has been a cornerstone of healthcare in southwest Indiana and Illinois, known for its compassionate care and commitment to excellence. The hospital is recognized as a 4-time designated Magnet® facility, a TJC Primary Stroke Center, and a Level III Trauma Center. This role is crucial in maintaining a welcoming environment for patients and visitors, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • High School graduate
  • Knowledge of software applications and administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Proficient in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and other language skills.
  • Proficient in keyboarding, data entry and business writing.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and visitors with a greeting, answer or refer inquiries, and maintain the reception area.
  • Schedule patient appointments in person or by telephone to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization.
  • Keep patient appointments on schedule by notifying providers of patient arrivals and informing providers and patients of delays.
  • Comfort patients by anticipating their anxieties and answering their questions.
  • Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and billing information, and collecting and recording patient payments.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment by anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of ordered supplies.
  • Protect patient rights by maintaining the confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes.
  • Distribute incoming, outgoing, and inter-office mail.
  • Ensure availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Respond to emergencies to help patients in distress.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
