The Receptionist is responsible for handling incoming telephone calls, determining the purpose of the calls, and forwarding them to the appropriate personnel. This role also involves managing Epic messages, voicemail, and providing information to callers about the organization, physicians, and services. The receptionist will welcome on-site visitors, monitor access, and issue passes as needed. Additionally, they will sort and route mail, maintain publications, and manage office supplies. The position requires maintaining fax machines, sending and receiving faxes, and creating necessary documents. A key part of the role involves scheduling patient appointments and managing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) registration check-in processes in Epic, including verifying and updating patient demographics, insurance coverage, and collecting necessary documents. The receptionist will also handle co-payments, provide estimated self-pay obligations, perform cashiering functions, and balance their cash drawer daily. Assisting patients with MyChart signup and activation, replying to MyChart messages, and safeguarding patient privacy are also essential duties. The role includes prepping daily routes for upcoming appointments, reviewing work queues for registration errors, utilizing Epic waitlists, and updating no-shows and cancellations.
