Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Manage patient appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments or fees as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff or departments.
  • Coordinate patient flow by notifying medical staff of patient arrivals and managing waiting room logistics.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry to support clinical and office operations.
  • Handle patient check-out processes, including scheduling follow-up appointments and providing necessary documentation.
