The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. The Medical Receptionist 1 maintains accurate and confidential patient records, facilitating smooth communication between patients and medical staff. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization processes.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming calls promptly, addressing patient inquiries, directing calls to appropriate personnel, and providing general information about services.
  • Maintain and update patient records in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Collect co-payments and process billing information as required.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure timely patient flow and communicate any delays or changes effectively.
  • Manage office supplies and maintain a clean, organized reception area.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and preparing patient charts.
