The New York City Business Integrity Commission (BIC) is a regulatory and law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the trade waste industry and the City’s public wholesale markets. Businesses seeking to operate in these industries within the City of New York must, by law, apply to BIC and be approved by BIC for the requisite license or registration. BIC’s goals include: to keep industries free of organized crime and other forms of corruption; to ensure that regulated businesses are able to compete fairly; that customers receive equitable treatment, and that regulated businesses do not present a harm to public safety and conduct their affairs with honesty and integrity. Under direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Licensing and Assistant Director of Licensing, the receptionist responsibilities include: greeting applicants and the general public, answering agency telephone, handling inquires related to license and registration applications, the process of assessing and directing other calls and inquires to appropriate staff, scheduling and logging visitor appointments using the electronic portal, logging all mail, distributing mail, performing data entry and mail merges, emailing notices, filing of electronic and paper records, supporting the Licensing unit staff as needed, and assisting in special agency projects. The receptionist must also monitor the agency reception area and guests to ensure non-authorized personnel remain in the designated area. The receptionist will also be responsible for the creation, assigning and processing of interagency documents and forms. The ideal candidate should be hard-working, have a professional demeanor, experience in customer service with a diverse community, and an ability to multitask in a high-volume and fast-paced environment. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
