About The Position

The Receiving Operator performs warehouse and yard duties, including preparing will-call orders, stocking materials, and unloading delivery trucks. The role handles Valley Irons products and involves identifying, inspecting, storing, handling, packaging, and shipping materials in accordance with purchase orders, sales orders, company policies, and safety procedures. The position works across multiple warehouses in a fast-paced environment with changing schedules and priorities.

Requirements

Preferred minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience in forklift and crane operation.
Attention to detail.
Understanding of and proficiency in measurements.
Willingness to learn.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Excellent knowledge of carbon, stainless, and aluminum products.
Experience with chop saw and torch cutting.
Ability to work in a changing work environment daily.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to mount and dismount forklifts, stand and walk for long periods, use hands to pull, push, and stack material, bend, and lift over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Pull stock as needed.
Rotate jobs frequently.
Inspect and identify material and related documentation as prescribed by purchase orders and sales orders.
Color-code products in accordance with company policy.
Safely and efficiently load and unload trucks using company-provided equipment and procedures.
Stock materials in the yard while sorting sold materials.
Maintain a clean and organized work area across multiple warehouses.
Examine shipment contents and compare them with records to ensure accuracy.
Understand product lines and how products should be stored, handled, packaged, and shipped.
Communicate with the supervisor, clerk, and sales team.
Comply with all safety guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
