About The Position

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking a Receiving Inventory Supervisor to oversee the receiving department. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate receipt and disposition of merchandise and inventory within the club. Key duties include processing paperwork, verifying merchandise against purchase orders, checking for damaged products and concealed shortages, and ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures. The supervisor will also lead and develop a team, drive operational excellence, and maintain club standards.

Requirements

• Forklift operator required.
• At least 18 years of age.

• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Prior experience working in a big box receiving environment preferred.
• Computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the receiving department, ensuring efficient receipt and disposition of merchandise and inventory.
• Process paperwork, verify merchandise against purchase orders, and check for discrepancies and damages.
• Ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
• Lead, coach, and develop team members in the receiving/inventory control department.
• Communicate effectively with logistics and management regarding deliveries and issues.
• Oversee and coordinate delivery schedules.
• Complete department self-audits and daily reports accurately.
• Ensure receiving doors are secured and visitors/vendors are properly checked in.
• Inspect bags, backpacks, briefcases, and lunch boxes/bags leaving the building.
• Assign truck door locations and ensure drivers are outside their trucks during unloading.
• Secure trucks on the dock and ensure full trailer loads are empty upon departure.
• Ensure all safety equipment, such as the dock restraint system, is in proper working condition.
• Ensure the receiving/employee entrance is alarmed when not in use and that alarms are operational.
• Verify seal integrity of all trucks, including distribution center loads and frozen/dairy shipments.
• Monitor distribution center loads to secure high shrink merchandise and remove it from the dock at the end of the day.
• Confirm incoming and outgoing Direct Store Delivery (DSD) quantities and ensure correct processing.
• Execute merchandise protection on designated items.
• Validate that all merchandise leaving the back doors has appropriate paperwork and approvals.
• Operate the compactor and cardboard baler and secure the equipment when not in use.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
