About The Position

The Receiving Inspector is responsible for verifying that all incoming materials, components, and assemblies meet company, engineering, and customer quality requirements. This includes applying GD&T principles, evaluating supplier documentation, and inspecting to relevant industry standards such as AWS, ASTM, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 for cable and harness assemblies. The role supports supplier quality through nonconformance documentation, MRB participation, and corrective action follow-up.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing or fabrication.
  • Hands-on experience applying GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 inspection criteria.
  • Experience with nonconformance reporting, MRB, and supplier corrective action processes.
  • Experience inspecting weldments, machined parts, or electrical harnesses preferred.
  • Proficient with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across departments and with suppliers.
  • Attention to detail and excellent documentation accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ERP/QMS software and data entry of inspection results.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, ASTM, ASME, or related material standards is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and documentation inspections of incoming materials, fabricated components, and electrical assemblies.
  • Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect wire harnesses, electrical connectors, and assemblies per IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.
  • Verify supplier certifications, test reports, and material traceability against purchase orders and drawings.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming materials; initiate and maintain Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to evaluate and disposition nonconforming items.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and Purchasing to implement and verify Supplier Corrective Actions (SCARs).
  • Maintain inspection records, calibration compliance, and traceability documentation for all inspected items.
  • Support internal and supplier audits and assist with quality improvement and root cause analysis activities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and ISO 9001 quality system requirements.
