About The Position

Loads, unloads and moves materials within or near plant, yard or worksite, and accurately documents these activities as required.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required
  • At least 1 year of warehouse and forklift experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software
  • Possess general email writing and online research skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Loads and unloads product onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand as necessary.
  • Loads materials into trailers and installs bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Enters receiving information into the SOI business management system (ERP) according to current standard operating procedures.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
  • Counts and records number of units of product moved or handled on a bill of lading, noting the “sell by” date or manufacturing date code.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to incoming materials on cases, drums or other containers.
  • Records product movement and acknowledges receipt of shipments. Reports overages, shortages or shelf life issues to supervisor.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power industrial handling equipment, and cleans work areas, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators as required.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse inventory as required.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.
