About The Position

The Receiving Associate works at Open Door Mission’s Outreach Center in Elkhorn, Nebraska, maintaining a Christ-centered receiving program that serves the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of low-income families and single individuals in the Omaha community. The Elkhorn Center receives the most donations of any location, making this an important role in the Community Outreach department. The position involves receiving and recording donations, unloading trucks, organizing donations for transportation, collaborating with staff and volunteers, and maintaining the receiving area and equipment. The role is part of a team committed to Christian ministry and breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Requirements

Have a visible relationship with Jesus Christ and be able to share the gospel as opportunities arise.
Attend a local Christian church consistently.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
Be trainable in the use of a pallet jack and forklift.
Have proficient computer skills, including Google Suite and general computer operations.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma and a valid driver’s license.
Good decision-making skills and ability to work with people in crisis situations.
Excellent ability to organize and make a space efficient and welcoming.
Ability to delegate work to others.

Responsibilities

Receive and record donations while treating donors in a friendly, helpful, and thankful manner.
Unload trucks.
Organize and prepare donations for transportation.
Work as a team with staff members and community volunteers.
Operate equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
Keep the receiving area and equipment clean, in good repair, and organized.
