The Receiving Assistant is responsible for assisting the Receiving Manager in the successful operation of the receiving department. This role involves providing world-class customer service, exemplifying integrity, responsibility, and excellence, and adhering to all policies. The assistant will accurately receive all incoming products, checking for date, accuracy, and damage, and will scan all incoming and outgoing product. They will stage products for efficient delivery to the sales floor, process various paperwork accurately and timely, and research and process all discrepancies. Communication with department managers regarding delivery issues and vendor out-of-stocks is crucial, as is following up on special orders. The role requires operating a forklift and pallet jack, maintaining a clean and organized back room, and working with department managers to address performance issues. Supporting store opening and closing activities, including Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cash handling, is also part of the responsibilities. Handling register functions, maintaining safety and security, assisting in training and monitoring department personnel, and providing backup on the sales floor when receiving duties are complete are also key aspects of the job. The assistant will answer customer questions according to company standards, increase product knowledge, and utilize various software programs. The position requires working a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a commitment of five days and 40 hours per week, including mandatory store meetings. This position has limited Manager on Duty responsibilities but is never intended to be the overall Manager on Duty for the store. All employees are expected to be hands-on and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.
