About The Position

The Receiving and Inventory Control Lead is responsible for overseeing the receiving, inspection, and storage of raw materials, components, and supplies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate inventory control to support production schedules, minimize downtime, and maintain optimal material availability for manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing receiving or inventory control, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and production scheduling.
  • Forklift certification
  • Experience with ERP or MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) for inventory and materials management.
  • Ability to foster trusting relationships, teamwork, and cross collaboration.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to hold others accountable through effective leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the receiving area, ensuring all raw materials, components, and supplies are unloaded, inspected, and accurately recorded.
  • Verify shipments against purchase orders and material specifications; document and report any discrepancies to procurement and quality control teams.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to production lines to meet manufacturing schedules.
  • Maintain organized and labeled storage areas for raw materials, WIP (work in progress), and finished goods.
  • Perform regular inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliations to maintain system accuracy and prevent material shortages.
  • Monitor usage of raw materials and update inventory systems to ensure accurate, real-time data for production planning.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor receiving and inventory staff, fostering a culture of safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and industry regulations, including OSHA and company-specific standards.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, and Procurement teams to resolve inventory or material flow issues quickly.
  • Generate detailed reports on material availability, inventory accuracy, and performance metrics for management review.
  • Follows safety requirements for the facility and position, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follows environmental and hazardous waste disposal procedure.
  • Participates in process improvements and other operational activities.
