About The Position

The Receiver handles the daily receipt of merchandise delivered by vendor trucks. The role examines shipments for defects and shortages against receiving documents, records reasons for returned goods, unloads and moves incoming shipments to storage, and forwards approved receiving documents to the appropriate department for processing. Other duties may be assigned. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrate knowledge of materials received.
• Communicate clearly, listen, and seek clarification.
• Perform work accurately and thoroughly, meet productivity standards, and complete work in a timely manner.
• Follow safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Follow instructions and management direction, and take responsibility for one's actions.
• Regularly walk; use hands to handle or feel objects; reach; and talk or hear. Frequently stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally sit and lift or move more than 100 pounds.
• Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Examine shipments for defects and shortages against receiving documents.
• Record factors causing goods to be returned.
• Unload and move incoming shipments to storage.
• Forward approved receiving documents to the appropriate department for processing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
